MAY COMMUNITY GROUP: THE PONDS SCHOOL
Blogged by: Rouse Hill Town Centre 30 May 2016
The Ponds School was established on a temporary site in Riverstone in 2012 with four Kindergarten classes and has grown to 19 classes in 2016 spanning Kindergarten to Year 11.  Our school caters for students with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities, many with additional support needs such as Autism, physical and sensory impairments.

In 2015 the school moved from its temporary site to brand new purpose built facilities in The Ponds.  The new school provides the basis for the very best learning opportunities for all our students with the inclusion of state of the art technology, a hydrotherapy pool and specialised playground equipment.

Students at The Ponds School are exposed to the same syllabus and curriculum content as all students in NSW.  Our teachers are passionate about providing innovative, evidence-based learning opportunities that promote independence and life-long learning, enabling our students to become positive role-models and active, contributing members of their community.  Activities are modified to suit the varying individual needs of all students and teachers utilise many forms of adaptive technologies to ensure the very best educational outcomes for all students.

We strongly believe the greatest educational benefits for our students come from strong community ties and supporting families throughout their child’s educational journey.
Our Vision:  The Ponds School provides quality, individualised and meaningful education in a safe and caring environment.  The Ponds School supports families, encourages independence and assists students to become valued members of the community both now and into the future.
