A fun family activity with a delicious twist!
Kids just love hanging around the kitchen. They love food. They love eating! Let’s put these things all together and make some school holiday fun food creations that the little people will love making (and eating!).
Follow along for some easy and fun ideas!

HOT CHOCOLATE SNOWMEN

We know Olaf loves Summer… Well, he’s going to love the heat in these yummy Winter hot chocolates! Not as much as the kids will love making their little marshmallow snowmen (or women!) and slurping down a warm toasty comforting drink in the colder months.

What you need:
  • 3 white marshmallows for the head and body (per snowman)
  • Pretzel sticks for arms and legs (Or thin carrot sticks can work too)
  • Choc chips, or some chocolate for melting to paint on eyes, mouth and buttons
  • A small piece of carrot for the nose
  • Toothpicks to hold your snowman together

What you do:
  • Break a toothpick in half. Use one half to secure the ‘head’ to the ‘upper body’. The other half secures the ‘upper body’ to the ‘lower body’
  • Poke holes in the marshmallow in the position you want the arms and legs with toothpicks, then insert the pretzel sticks (you may need to wiggle the toothpick around to make the holes a little larger)
  • Poke a hole in the top marshmallow where you want the nose to sit with a toothpick, then insert the carrot nose
  • Melt a little chocolate, then use the blunt end of a toothpick to paint on eyes, a mouth and round buttons
When your hot chocolate is made, simply place your snowman on top, balancing his head on one side of the mug and legs on the other.

MELTED SNOWMAN COOKIES

Perhaps Olaf got a little too close to the heat here! These melted snowman cookies are simple, delicious and trust us, the kids will squeal with delight making them!

What you need:

You can make your own cookies or you can buy a packet of your favourite type for this fun recipe
  • Premade white icing for the snowman's melted ‘body’
  • Premade decorators icing in a variety of colours for snowman features (we love Queen Writing Icing Multipack Colour Tubes 5 pack)
  • White marshmallows for the snowman head
What you do:
  • Space out your cookies on a tray and draw on your ‘snow puddle’ with a piping bag
  • Pop the marshmallow ‘head’ on to one side, while the icing is still wet
  • Use the black icing tube to draw on eyes, a mouth, arms and buttons
  • Use the red or blue (or mix it up) to draw on a scarf
  • Use orange (or yellow depending what’s available) to draw on the nose. Alternatively you can mix red and yellow and paint on an orange nose with a toothpick.

WARM PENGUIN PORRIDGE

This little guy is perhaps one of the most easy, gorgeous, healthy, delicious and utterly adorable breakfast meals you and your kids can make. Trust us, there’s nothing cold about this perfect penguin!

What you need:

  • Your preferred porridge, served warm in a bowl
  • Fresh blueberries (for eyes and outline)
  • Fresh mandarin or orange (for beak and flippers)
  • Yep…. that’s it!

What you do:

  • Prepare your warm porridge as normal (make sure it isn’t too runny or the fruit will sink)
  • Place your blueberries on top of the porridge, framing the penguins face and for eyes
  • Chop a few pieces of mandarin or orange into little triangles and place as a beak and flippers
  • If you want to be a little fancy, you can sprinkle some edible silver glitter under the penguins flippers for pretty snow.
