Hot Cross Bun Cereal Puffs

It's time to shake up breakfast this Easter with these delicious Hot Cross Puffs!


Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups self raising flour
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence 
  • 100g melted butter 
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar 
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon 
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate bites
  • 1 tsp mixed spices
  • 1 orange (for zest and juice)
  • 1 cup of milk


Method

  1. Using an electric mixer, combine the butter and sugar until lightly fluffy
  2. Slowly add the vanilla essence and egg to the mixture while beating
  3. Add the flour, brown sugar, milk, orange zest and spices. Mix for approx 5 mins till a thick dough is formed 
  4. Wrap the dough in glad wrap and place in the fridge for 30 mins
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. 
  6. Roll dough into small 1cm balls and place evenly on a lined baking tray and cook in the oven for 10-12mins 
  7. Melt the white chocolate and place in a piping bag. 
  8. Once the "puffs" have cooled, use the white chocolate to criss-cross the cookies to form a "hot cross bun" look
  9. Once the chocolate has hardened, enjoy like cereal with milk!
