Spring racing season is upon us and the fashion is one of the best parts. So shine your shoes and fluff your fascinators… we’ve got you covered for the latest looks that will ensure you are your trackside best.

 

BE FASCINATING… FOR THE RIGHT REASONS

Fascinators and hats have made a comeback recently, not just topping the fashion stakes trackside but also at weddings (thanks Harry and Meghan). However… you can get it right… or so, so terribly wrong.

DO

• Wear the headpiece, rather than let it wear you. Ensure it’s in proportion to your height, your build and your outfit.
• Be sensible. Don’t spend a fortune on something you’ll only wear one time. Choose something you’ll be able to reimagine in the future.
• Rent a piece. Further to the above, if you must wear a statement piece, consider renting one. 

DON'T

• Feel obligated to ‘stick some stuff’ in your hair. Make it worthwhile or leave it out. 

 

PUTTING THE SHOE ON THE RIGHT FOOT

We love a good shoe. In the right pair, you can conquer the world.

DO

• Embrace a pop of colour. Often we feel comfortable and safe in black... and, in the absence of a new frock/suit/paycheck be smart and accessorise - you can always jazz up last years’ staple with a colourful shoe. 
• Gents… get into ‘broguing’. Decorative perforations or multi layered uppers will jazz up any suit.
• Be happy, be comfortable!

DON'T

• Be ‘shoe-pid’ - wearing uncomfortable shoes just to look good is, well… silly.
• Stilettos will sink - get some heel stoppers or wear something with a thicker heel.
• Forget socks (gents) - You’ll look silly showing your pasty ankles and your feet will be stinky. 

 

TRADITION TRUMPS TRASH

Racing is a time-honoured tradition that deserves respect. Amidst all the drunken debauchery and shoe-less wobblers, be a lady or a gentleman. 
 

DO

• Be comfortable. It’s a long day. Comfort = confidence. If you aren’t comfortable, it shows.
• Be appropriate. Be creative, show your individuality, but keep it classy.
• Be aware of any dress codes for the event you attend. It’s not just about the day you attend, but the enclosure you plan to enter. 

DON'T

• Recreate a shade of Oompa Loompa. Tandoori is best left on your plate.
